Factorial Design with Simulation for the Optimization of the Level of Service in the Platform-Train Interface of Metro Stations—A Pilot Study

Metro stations are considered complex areas of pedestrian mobility due to the increasing congestion, a high level demand different circulation spaces. Given this situation and limited physical spaces remaining develop transport systems in urban areas, railways acquire greater relevance given need mobilize pedestrians. Within stations, most problematic area is platform-train interface (PTI) number interactions between passengers boarding alighting. The objective study identify PTI configuration that maximizes service for passengers, safeguards operational continuity system improves user experience by reducing dissatisfaction delay times. For this, microsimulation model used order recreate reality generic metro station its scenarios combinations two factors: platform configurations (topology) traffic control elements. Subsequently, these analyzed through factorial design, looking optimizes combination metrics chosen weighted way. Finally, it found users mixed with signaling.
